Spain

Other towns and villages

Heir to a past by turns Roman, Arab and Christian, Spain has countless architectural treasures attesting to its rich, eventful history. Hispano-Moorish masterpieces like the Alhambra in Granada and the Alcázar of Toledo, as well as Baroque religious buildings, whitewashed houses and picturesque mountain villages make for an enchanting, fascinating setting.

In the spring of 1964, Frédéric Back entered Spain through Albi. He travelled down the coast from Barcelona through Valencia, Almería, Granada, Toledo, Ronda, Madrid, Ávila, Salamanca, Burgos, and Bilbao.
