Colorado and New Mexico
Colorado and New Mexico, two states in the American southwest, encompass a region of particularly striking geographic diversity. Towering peaks rub shoulders with a semi-desert climate, in a landscape punctuated by snow-capped canyons, ancient volcanoes and mighty rivers. Influenced by pre-Columbian and Mexican history, both states have a strong Native presence that’s a vital part of the region’s identity. New Mexico is home to several pueblos, traditional structures made from adobe (a mixture of clay and straw).
