The manor house
Manor houses, which first appeared in Brittany around the 14th and 15th centuries, are mostly found in the region’s northern parts. As residences of the nobility, their outward appearance was deliberately showy, often adopting the architectural vocabulary of the châteaux, with stair turrets crowned by a high room.
