Potato harvesting

In the 19th and early 20th century, the potato was the staple food of Brittany; its cultivation shaped rural life. At harvest time, the whole family would work together to pull up the tubers from the fields, clean them and transport them to the house. Potatoes were prepared in many different ways, including potato pancakes, mashed potatoes or cotriade, a sort of Breton fish stew.
