Located in central Italy, Umbria is one of Italy’s few landlocked regions (i.e. an area having no access to the sea). However, it’s home to the country’s largest lake, Lake Trasimeno, as well as the Marmore Falls, known as some of the world’s most beautiful. In addition to its striking scenery, Umbria boasts a number of architectural treasures, including the 13th-century San Damiano Convent and Basilica di Santa Clara, both of which are in Assisi.
